What is the role of Caring Ministries in our congregation?
Caring Ministry has been a resource for many years in helping our congregation to navigate thru difficult times. Historically it has been the place where a member or anyone from the community can call to have a listening ear for any need that they might have. Caring Ministries is a source of well-established resources to help others identify sources of support for their struggle. Whatever your need, all will be treated confidentially, and we will do everything that we can to assist you in finding resources and answers.
Please call the main office (after hours call the pastor on call) for someone that is in the hospital, or for prayers before a procedure. Caring Ministries has an established clergy and laity care team that meets on a weekly basis and coordinates appropriate care for our members. Together the team handles everything from the hospital, nursing home, and homebound visits. The office also offers referrals for in-home medical and respite care, housing, mental health services, meals, and prayers. We have volunteers to assist you with grocery shopping, rides to medical appointments, pharmacy pick-ups, and other errands.
For any of these needs, please call 248-646-1200 or email office@fumcbirmingham.org. If you are calling after business hours you may leave a message or if your need is immediate, you may call the Pastor on Call phone Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM: 248-646-1200 and Weekends and Evenings: 248-408-0038.
