Inside Our Walls
Without leaving our building, there are many opportunities for you to use your talents in the life of the church and to support mission projects outside our walls.

Acolytes
Our Acolyte Program invites students in grades 4–8 to take an active role in worship leadership. Acolytes help open our Sunday services by lighting the candles, symbolizing the presence of Christ among us. Each acolyte typically serves at one worship service per month, making this a meaningful and manageable way for young people to grow in faith and leadership. For more information email office@fumcbirmingham.org.

Angel Tree
Each year, our Angel Tree Ministry shares the love of Jesus by providing Christmas gifts to 350 children in our community who have a parent in prison. In November, volunteers help by making phone calls to learn each child’s needs, purchasing and wrapping gifts, and delivering them in time for Christmas. More details and volunteer opportunities will be available in November 2026.

Days for Girls
Since 2015, church members have been sewing components for reusable feminine hygiene kits distributed worldwide by Days for Girls International. These kits—assembled and shipped from the Farmington Chapter—are given primarily to young girls in underdeveloped nations, along with vital health education. Many have been delivered by our own missionaries to FUMC mission sites in Cuba, Honduras, Kenya, and Costa Rica. We welcome volunteers to help sew or cut fabrics, and financial donations are always appreciated to support this life-changing work. For more information email buff.cummings@gmail.com.

College Care Packages
Throughout the school year, we send college students care packages filled with inspirational messages, small treats, and candy. If you or your student would like to receive a package, please email the address to cschulte@fumcbirmingham.org. Even if the address is the same as last year, please resubmit it for the new school year. If you would like to donate items or help assemble packages, contact Sue Smith at sue.smith@beachcom.net.
Communion Servers
One need not be ordained to assist in preparing the elements or serving Holy Communion during worship. Participation simply requires a reverence for the sacrament and a willingness to offer your service as you are able. For more information email office@fumcbirmingham.org.

Christian Life Center (CLC)
Do you have a welcoming spirit and a heart for building community? Our Christian Life Center (CLC) Volunteers create a warm, friendly environment for guests, church members, and fellow volunteers. The CLC offers opportunities for our community to strengthen both body and mind through activities such as yoga, pickleball, and indoor walking—while fostering genuine connections. We have a variety of volunteer openings in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Come be part of making the CLC a place where everyone feels at home! Email the CLC at clcstaff@fumcbirmingham.org.
